Brandon A. Buchanan, FACHE is a writer, mentor, and community health advocate. He  is passionate about building relationships with underserved communities and  understanding their barriers to accessing high-quality and coordinated care. As  Director, Health Equity at NorthShore University HealthSystem, Brandon is responsible  for promoting the vision of health equity and developing interventions to eliminate health  disparities. He is a critical leader in NorthShore’s Black Leadership Forum and has been  instrumental in advancing key efforts to expand perspectives across the organization.

Brandon graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health, earned a Master of Health Administration from The Ohio State  University, and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. In his free  time, he enjoys writing and collecting postcards with his husband, Joe. He also is an  advocate of mentorship and actively encourages Black youth to pursue healthcare  related fields.

Brandon would like to serve in the role as Secretary to support the larger vision of the Chicago Midwest Chapter of NAHSE. He is organized and has prior experience leading and  supporting meetings (both virtually and in person). As a current NAHSE member, I’ve  supported the case-competition at a national level - including serving as a semi-finals  judge and mock-interviewer.
